Open Studio is a free annual event created especially to promote and disseminate plastic arts, with a view to rounding off what Madrid has to offer in cultural and artistic terms.

A selection of artists who work in Madrid will be opening their doors for the first time and welcoming the public into a very special space, their studios. They will be offered the privilege of entering the artists’ workshops, places which are normally closed and private. A unique opportunity to learn about the creative process and to meet the artists, whilst at the same time viewing the latest pieces they are working on, art works that will go on sale and those which will never leave the studio. Over the course of the Open Studio event, different activities will be taking place in each artistic space.

Open Studio gives both up-and-coming and well-established artists the opportunity to display their work, their way of working and their surroundings in an accessible way. It is also a chance to promote and disseminate their work among art professionals, both national and international, who will be visiting their studios.

The first Open Studio will be held in Madrid in October 2012. The studios will be opening their doors solely and exclusively for four days, from Thursday 4th to Sunday 7th October.
