del IE tiene el honor de invitarle a la conferencia titulada "¿Carmen
o los conquistadores?. Los estereotipos sobre la imagen de España" el
martes 20 de abril a las 19.30h, impartida por D. Manuel Lucena Giraldo.

D. Manuel Lucena Giraldo es científico Titular del Instituto de Historia (Consejo
Superior de Investigaciones Científicas) en Madrid y profesor visitante en la
Universidad de Harvard.

El término estereotipo es una imagen o idea
aceptada comúnmente por un grupo o sociedad con carácter inmutable. Se
configura, por tanto, como una convención anclada en la realidad mediante la
aceptación social, que es una fuente permanente de polémica. En el caso
español, la leyenda negra, el romanticismo y la reciente normalización han
originado diversos estereotipos que, como veremos, se mezclan de manera
conflictiva en el imaginario global, lo que crea  problemas y
oportunidades para individuos y empresas.

La conferencia se impartirá  en el
aula E-101
del Instituto de Empresa situada en c/ Pinar, 9.

The IE
School of Arts and Humanities in
collaboration with IE’s Alumni Association have the honor to invite you
a lecture entitled “Carmen or the Conquerers?  Stereotypes about
Spain’s Image”  on Tuesday, April 20th at 19.30h with Mr.
Manuel Luceno Giraldo. 

Mr. Manuel
Lucena Giraldo is Chief Scientist at the Instituto
de Historia (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas) in Madrid and a
visiting professor at Harvard University.

The term stereotype is an image or a
commonly accepted idea with an immutable character held by a group or
society.  It then becomes like a fixed convention, through social
acceptance, which is a permanent source for polemics.  In the case of the
Spanish Stereotype, the black legend, romanticism and the recent normalization
have originated diverse stereotypes which, as we will see, become entangled in
an often conflicted manner in the global imagination, which creates problems
and opportunities for individuals and businesses.   

The lecture will be given in room E-101
at the IE Business School Campus located at c/ Pinar, 9.
