On Tuesday, September 15th, 2009, the IE School of Arts and Humanities joined the College Art Association. The College Art Association promotes excellence in scholarship and teaching in the history and criticism of the visual arts and in creativity and technical skill in the teaching and practices of art. The CAA facilitates the exchange of ideas and information among those interested in art and history of art and advocates comprehensive and inclusive education in the visual arts. The CAA also honors accomplishments of artists, art historians, and critics and articulates and affirms the highest ethical standards in the conduct of the profession.
The IE School of Arts and Humanities is particularly proud to join the CAA's fellow members which include artists, art historians, scholars, curators, collectors, educators, art publishers, and other visual arts professionals. The CAA's members also include university art and art history departments, museums, libraries, and professional and commercial organizations.
The IE School of Arts and Humanities is especially excited about the potential that this alliance holds for its Bachelor in Art History. "The CAA has a long tradition, since 1911, as a professional association which aims to cultivate understanding of arts," said Macarena Ventosa, Director of the IE School of Arts and Humanities' Bachelor in Art History. "Although based in New York City, its members, concerns, reputation and influence are international in scope. It is a wonderful opportunity for IE University to get in touch with other artists and scholars of the world of arts and to diffuse our message."
The IE School of Arts and Humanities' Bachelor in Art History is designed for art lovers who are interested in exploring art's different forms and expressions across cultures and throughout history. We are geared to young minds who wish to develop an international vision and a critical spirit in the interpretation of art and its professional setting. The degree is characterized by its international mission, an interdisciplinary and personalized curriculum, and its emphasis on contemporary art.
