Manuel Lucena Giraldo
Manuel Lucena Giraldo is a chief Scientific at the Institute of History (Spanish National Research Council) in Madrid. He has been a visiting researcher at IVIC (Venezuela), La Pontificia Univerisdad Javeriana (Bogota), El Colegio de Mexico, Institute of Latin American Studies at London University, St Anthony’s College (Oxford University) and Harvard.

He is the author of several books such as Laboratorio Tropical. La Expedición de Límites al Orinoco, 1750-1767 (1993), Viajes a la Guayana Ilustrada (1999), Premoniciones del descubrimiento de Iberoamérica (2003) e Historia de un cosmopolita, José María Lanz y la fundación de la ingeniería de caminos en España y América (2005) y Naciones de rebeldes (2010).
