The digital revolution has made filmmaking technologies available to the masses. But the idea that it makes us all artists, says Ken Burns, is “bullshit.”

  The Malaga Picasso Museum has embarked on a new line of collaboration agreements with universities aimed at promoting the study of the works of Pablo Picasso and twentieth century art, starting with a collaboration agreement with the IE Foundation, run by the prestigious IE Business School.
  

• The agreement will lead to the creation of the Malaga Picasso Museum scholarship, whereby the museum will make a direct contribution to the continuous learning of IE University students.
  

The new collaboration agreement means that the Malaga Picasso Museum and IE Foundation (IE Business School) will work together to promote the study of art and excellence in the museum sector to enable access to the work market among the students and alumni of IE, a prestigious international institution in the higher and management education sector.

The Malaga Picasso Museum scholarship for history degree students at IE School of Arts and Humanities is aimed at helping equip top-tier professionals in the art sector with global, entrepreneurial and creative vision. It marks the start of fruitful collaboration between the Museum, a word reference in the study of contemporary art, and IE University, an international university with a markedly humanistic approach to higher education.

The scholarship provides students with professional internships from the first year of their degree through until completion of the program, equipping future graduates with a privileged insight into labor realities in the culture sector. The Museum will also designate a mentor who will guide students in their vocational education, helping build an international vision of the field of arts coupled with a critical approach.

The Malaga Picasso Museum is dedicated to research on Pablo Picasso, the dissemination of his works, and 20th century art. The Museum has a collection of close to 200 works of art by Picasso, and a full program of exhibitions and activities designed to bring art closer to people from all walks of life.

Casa Árabe le informa de la celebración, el miércoles 24 de marzo en Madrid, del Anaquel Conversaciones con Edward Said, que ofrecerá el escritor y analista político Tariq Ali con motivo de la presentación de su último libro en España.
En esta conferencia, que tendrá lugar a las 19:30 horas en el Auditorio de Casa Árabe en Madrid (c/Alcalá, 62), participarán, además, la directora general de Casa Árabe, Gema Martín Muñoz, y la directora editorial de Alianza Editorial, Valeria Ciompi.

Estipulaba el primer mandamiento del decálogo formulado por mi malogrado amigo Javier Tusell y yo mismo hace años que: "Todo demente debe estar localizado". Tarea ingrata y difícil en estos pagos donde ese desvarío mental prolifera por doquier. Catalogar a los dementes es como intentar contar a los inmigrantes ilegales: una tarea que sólo permite aproximaciones imprecisas. Sí lo podemos hacer cuando los desequilibrados dejan este mundo y es precisamente ahí donde quiero ir. La última publicación de las defunciones según la causa de muerte señala a los trastornos mentales y del comportamiento y las afecciones del sistema nervioso como los grupos de enfermedades con óbito final, que más aumentan en el país. Que nadie me malinterprete. Las enfermedades cardiovasculares y los tumores continúan siendo el transporte más frecuente al otro barrio. Pero es significativo que más de 30.000 personas nos dejen por males de la cabeza o los nervios. ¿Es este un país de locos o son los tiempos los que multiplican la demencia? Mi optimismo elige esta segunda opción y me hace pensar que cuando la convulsión económica, laboral y política tome vuelo sus secuelas mentales se vayan con ella.

Pero hay una segunda circunstancia curiosa en la publicación de las causas de muerte. Se trata del ascenso de suicidios al primer puesto del ranking de los óbitos exógenos. La verdad es que no alcanza esa posición por méritos propios sino por la disminución de fallecidos en accidentes de tráfico. No obstante, algo habría que hacer para reducir esas 3.400 personas que se despiden de este mundo a la francesa. Se han reducido los accidentes de circulación con muerte, un 20%. Pues rebajemos los suicidios en la misma proporción, aunque para ello tengamos que nombrar a Pere Navarro responsable de una Dirección General que suene bien. Por ejemplo, Director General para la Reducción del Tránsito Deliberado al más allá.
